london: Brick Lane book launched

Prominent community personality & Advisor to Udichi UK, Mahmud A Rouf’s latest book ‘Brick Lane, Banglatown & British Bangalee’ was launched on 10th February. A large number of community leaders, poets, journalists and cultural activists were present at the publication ceremony held at the Kabi Nazrul Centre, Banglatown, East London.

Guest speakers at the event expressed their opinion that the development of the UK Bengali community, including Bengali settlement around Brick Lane, their struggle & achievements, has been highlighted in this book.

Under the chair of Harun ur Rashid, President of the UK Udichi Shagufta Sharmin Tania conducted the event. Former Councillor and anti-racist activist of Bangladesh Youth Movement reviewed the book.

In addition, former activist of Federation of Bangladeshi Youth Organisations Ansar Ahmad Ullah, journalist Abu Musa Hasan, cultural activist Dr. Hasnin Chowdhury, Dr. Wasim Islam, social media activist Romyo Rahim, former councillor & activist of Bangladesh Youth League Nooruddin Ahmed, Satyaprat Das Swapan, online activist Ajanta Dev Roy, Udichi’s Secretary Shahab Ahmed Bachchu, Nirmul Committee’s executive Chair Syed Enamul Islam, Labour activist Abdul Malik Khukon amongst  others also commented on the book. The publication event was organised by the Udichi Shilpi Goshthi UK Sangsad.
